Local ski bus

Make the most of Serre Chevalier's free ski shuttle buses which take you from one end of the valley to the other, stopping at many convenient points along the Route Nationale. Not everyone can ski the whole valley so this bus service is great for those who fancy travelling between the different villages and ski access points.

It is free for all those with a valid lift pass or Carte d'Hote (a guest card which may be provided by your hotel or tour operator.)
If you don't have a lift pass or Carte d'Hote, you will be asked to pay a reasonable price for a ticket.

The buses run between 07:55 in the morning and 17:35 in the afternoon from Briancon [Serre Chevalier 1200] up to Le Monetier les Bains [Serre Chevalier 1500], and between 08:25 in the morning and 18:05 in the afternoon coming back i.e. from Le Monetier les Bains to Briancon.

What are the journey times?

Journey times will vary slightly in high-season and at busy times e.g. at the start of the day and end of the day. Here's a guide:

  • Briancon (Prorel ski lift) to Chantemerle (bus stop for ski lifts) - 15 mins*
  • Chantemerle (bus stop for ski lifts) to Villeneuve (bus stop for ski lifts) - 5 mins*
  • Villeneuve (bus stop for ski lifts) to Le Monetier les Bains (ski area) - 10 mins*

* Note: The journey times are the same on the way back i.e. from Le Monetier les Bains, direction Briancon.

How far are the lifts
from the bus stops?

In some villages the distance varies because there are various stops to get on or off the bus. Here's a guide for the main bus stops:

  • The Briancon bus stop is right next to the Prorel cable car.
  • The Chantemerle bus stop is on the Route Nationale,
a 5 minute walk to the lifts.
  • The Villeneuve bus stop is on the Route Nationale,
a 5 minute walk to the ski area and lifts*.
  • The Monetier bus stop is right next to the ski area and lifts.

* Note: when travelling in the direction of Briancon, the buses divert towards the ski area off the Route Nationale. There are therefore more bus stops in Villeneuve when travelling in this direction.
