Serre Chevalier has 250 km of pristine pistes and is one of the Alps biggest ski areas. The resort with 13 villages is spread over 4 areas: Briancon, Chantemerle, Villeneuve la Salle and le Monetier les Bains, at the gates of the Ecrins National Park. It offers great skiing in a high mountain atmosphere, peaceful skiing in the mélèzes woods, family skiing in special areas and more! With the addition of snowboarding and adventurous off-piste trips there really is one Serre Che for everyone!

The 13 Villages of Serre Chevalier that make up the Serre Chevalier region are: The old town of Briancon, La Gerarde, Saint Chaffrey, Chantemerle, Villard Late, Les Pananches, La Salle Les Alpes, Villeneuve, Le Bez, Le Serre Barbin, Le Freyssinet, Les Guibertes and on to Le Montier les Bains.

Briancon

Locals call Briancon 'Le Ville d'Art et d'Histoire' - the town ofh art and history. The main tourist office for Serre Chevalier is in Briancon and offers details of guided tours and information about all the activities available in the town – in addition to the skiing, tat is!

You can skate at the Olympic Ice Rink, swim in the newly opened pool with relaxing sauna and Jacuzzi facilities…. and much more besides. Some other points of interest are the tennis courts, an extensive library, two cinemas, a bowling alley, a theatre, a night club called Le Dune and aerial sports offered by Surf'Air. There really is something for the whole family in Briancon!

Chantemerle

Chantemerle lies central between Briancon and Villeneuve, offering the best of the pistes in Serre Chevalier. Chantemerle is a typical ski resort village with its main square, sports shops, supermarkets, and few bars, such as The Bar Yeti after ski, Kitzbühel after ski, and the new eXtreme bar. On average Chantemerle is one of the calmer towns more focused on the ultimate in fun sport.

Besides the skiing attractions Chantemerle also offers snow scooters with Chantemerle's Sun Scoot, aerial sports with Surf'Air and Les Aigles du Brianconnais, an ice-rink, a fitness centre named L'Altiforme, cabaret at the local L'Escapade Karaoké, the Cinéma Le Serre d'Aigle and the for the night owls a dance club named La Dune.

Villeneuve

The purpose-built ski village of Villeneuve offers great central access to the ski area of Serre Chevalier. Its traditional cobbled streets give it the feel of a real French ski resort. Well-served with shops, bars, horse riding, spa therapy, Baita jazz and disco club, hang gliding and much more, Villeneuve has a lot to offer the active visitor.

Le Monetier Les Bains

Famous for its hot steam baths, Monetier is a small, very rural village which has extended to offer skiing access into the Serre Chevalier ski area. Expect old stone buildings, twisting streets and open views of the local countryside in Monetier.

You can ski behind a horse or pony or choose to visit the natural ice rink in the village. The establishment of "Les Bains" offers a warm swimming pool with views of the Monetier glacier plus hydro-massage cabins. The village library is open Monday to Friday, plus the cinema L. et A. Lumiere. All in all, a beautiful village which should give you a wonderful stay on your skiing holiday.
