Chantemerle lies central between Briancon and Villeneuve, offering the best of the pistes in Serre Chevalier. Chantemerle is a typical ski resort village with its main square, sports shops, supermarkets, and few bars, such as The Bar Yeti after ski, Kitzbühel after ski, and the new eXtreme bar. On average Chantemerle is one of the calmer towns more focused on the ultimate in fun sport. Besides the skiing attractions Chantemerle also offers snow scooters with Chantemerle's Sun Scoot, aerial sports with Surf'Air and Les Aigles du Brianconnais, an ice-rink, a fitness centre named L'Altiforme, cabaret at the local L'Escapade Karaoké, the Cinéma Le Serre d'Aigle and the for the night owls a dance club named La Dune.
Nestled between Briancon and Villeneuve Chantemerle is the traditional skier's safe haven. With access to nearly all of the pistes Serre Chevalier has to offer and at 1,350 meters of altitude it holds the offer of a complete skiing or snowboading holiday. Serre Chevalier nearly always happens upon great weather to accompany these activities with an average of 300 days of sun per year and a measly 88 days of rain. Dotted all over the village are a varied assortment of apartments, hotels, chalets and small residences, a number of which are owned by frequent holiday skiers and owners of the very few after ski bars in Serre Chevalier. Chantemerle is the perfect place for those most interested in the sport and relaxation!
Skiing
Chantmerle is not only the main village in the ski resort, the many ski lifts also ensure that the entire ski resort is perfectly accessible. Chantemerle is the home of triple Olympic champion Luc Alphand. One of the most beautiful and challenging black slopes in the ski area is named after him.
New Generation ski and snowboard school offers a range of different classes within the Serre Chevalier area. For adults they host everything from level 1 beginner classes to ProXplore Off Piste Experience classes. They do of course also offer children's lessons. The youngest age is 4 in the adorable Whippersnappers group and the oldest is 14 in the Competent All Mountain Teenage Skiers group. As recommended by the British Associasion of Snowport Instructors (BASI), at the end of each course they award badges and certificates following the Snowlife Award System.
All in all Serre Chevalier has about 250km of pleasurable pistes and many more fun and exciting off-piste adventures to be had!
Sports and activities
Despite the great skiing possibilities in Chantemerle there are many other activities in case skiing just isn't for you or if you ever find yourself in need of a break. First of all, if you are looking for a bit of a workout, you could try the fitness centre L'Altiforme, or a night of dancing at the local nightclub La Dune.
For the real adrenaline seekers Chantemerle offers aerial sports with Surf'Air and Les Aigles du Brianconnais, or possibly even snow scooters with Chantemerle's Sun Scoot. There is also a well-cared-for ice rink where you can either play hockey or simply skate your troubles away.
